German infantry

The Wehrmacht ( 'defence force') was the unified armed forces of Germany from 1870–1918 and 1935 to 1946. It consisted of the Heer(army, the Kriegsmarine (navy) and the Luftwaffe (air force).The designation Wehrmacht for Nazi Germany's military replaced the previously used term,  and constituted the Third Reich’s efforts to rearm their nation.
Following Germany’s defeat in the ww1, they were relegated by the treaty to a limited army. One of Hitler’s most overt and audacious moves was the establishment of a mighty fighting force (the Wehrmacht), an army designed for imperial conquest. Fulfilling the Nazi regime’s long term goals (unknown to their neighbors) of global conquest required massive investment and spending in the German armaments industry and conscription to properly man the Führer’s military machine. In December 1941, Hitler named himself commander-in-chief of the Wehrmacht.
Along with the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe, the Wehrmacht formed the heart of Germany’s politico-military apparatus. Hitler's generals successfully employed the Wehrmacht using innovative combined arms tactics (close cover air-support, mechanized armor, and infantry) to devastating effect in a method of war called Blitzkrieg (lightning war). The Wehrmacht and the German military juggernaut incorporated a new military structure,unique combat techniques, new-found weapons, and an unprecedented speed and brutality against their opponents.
At the height of their success in 1942, the Germans dominated upwards of 3,898,000 square kilometers of territory,an accomplishment made possible by the combined German forces with the Wehrmacht firmly securing conquered territory. Working hand-in-hand at times with the SS, soldiers on the front (especially during the Eastern campaign) participated in various war atrocities, despite claims otherwise.By the time the war in Europe ended in May 1945, the Wehrmacht had lost approximately 11,300,000 men.Only a few members of the Wehrmacht’s upper leadership were tried for war crimes after World War II, notwithstanding the evidence which made many more culpable.More or less deconstructed by September 1945, the Wehrmacht was officially dissolved by ACC Law 34 on 20 August 1946.

Conte infantry part 1 and 2

Very nice details on conte figures, i bought them painted so the paint job is not excellent, i just redo the helmet to a darker grey, this figures from this part are rare.

Second part conte infantry, you have a chance to get officer with left hand pistol, if you are lucky with this set, i didn't. Note the second figure from the left is not the same with the same one from first set, they are different, and ware different gear. I am missing some of them, i hope i will find others from Conte infantry.

Airfix infantry

Classic set from airfix, nice officer and crunch guy, this is one of my first paint job, please be forgiving with the critics, i am missing the grenade guy.

Matchbox/Revel recast German infantry

This set is a recast of matchbox set by revel, they are a bit bigger and very nice details on them, especially the grenade guy, comes beautiful when painted, i like the guy with the machine gun.

German elite troops

The Waffen-SS , Armed SS) was created as the armed wing of the nazi party's (SS, "Protective Squadron"), and gradually developed into a multi-ethnic and multi-national military force of nazi germany.
The Waffen-SS grew from three regiments to over 38 divisions during ww2, and served alongside the Heer (regular army) but was never formally part of it.Adolf Hitler resisted integrating the Waffen-SS into the army, as it was to remain the armed wing of the Party and to become an elite police force once the war was won. Prior to the war, it was under the control of the SS (SS operational command office) beneath Heinrich Himmler. Upon mobilization its tactical control was given to the High Command of the Armed Forces .
Initially membership was only open to people of Germanic "Aryan" origin, who were said to be the master race. The rules were partially relaxed in 1940, although groups considered by Nazis to be "sub-human" like ethnic Poles or Jews remained excluded Hitler authorized the formation of units composed largely or solely of foreign troops. Foreign SS units were made up from recruits in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarussia, Belgium (both Wallonia and Flanders), Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Galicia, Georgia, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia (including Cossaack and Tatar, Turkic SSR Republics), Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, Asian Regiment, Arab Regiment, USA (15-20 volunteers) and a small number of British troops, with the latter unit being a significant propaganda tool.

Nice poses, very nice details, nice riders, just wish more poses.

I have mix feelings about this set, the good feelings is that the set is in perfect detail, the bad feeling is that some poses are in a very bad off balance, i bought this set and in come in 16 pieces, of 8 poses, the other 8 poses are nearly touching the ground of the off balance, i don't know if it is the company i bought them or they are like this in general. About the set, i really like the sniper, the machine gun running, and the machine gun up 2 pose from left.I put them with the waffen ss to gain more poses here, and they go well in cold winter Russia with captured long coats.

Airfix fallschirmjager (german paratrooper) 1 32

The Fallschirmjager, the German paratroopers of World War 2, made the first airborne infantry assaults in history. When Germany invaded Western Europe in 1940, the German paratroopers parachuted and landed with gliders and captured strategic positions. A year later, in May 1941, in their greatest operation, they invaded and conquered the big island Crete in the Mediterranean solely by airborne troops. Their losses were such that Hitler decided never to do another large airborne operation, so the German paratroopers served the rest of the war as elite infantry.

Since 1938 the Fallschirmjager prepared for planned operations in Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Poland, but these were cancelled. Their first assault was in April 1940 in Norway and Denmark, when airborne forces landed in key Norwegian and Danish airfields and captured them to allow safe landing of additional forces. The Junkers 52 was used as a passenger aircraft before the war and many of the German pilots landed in those Norwegian airfields before the war, so the surprise and deception were perfect, and once they landed the Germans quickly overwhelmed the defenders.
Their second operation, which this time included parachuting and glider landings, was a month later in the invasion of Western Europe. They did what paratroopers do best, and captured vital river bridges behind enemy lines which the advancing German armor needed to cross, and a formidable Belgian fortress, Eben Emael, which guarded other key bridges.

 The German paratroopers conquered Crete, but at a heavy cost of thousands dead and thousands wounded, mostly of Germany's finest soldiers, and the loss of 170 transport aircraft and dozens of fighters and bombers. These losses were dwarfed just months later by the tremendous German losses in the fighting in Russia which began a month later, but in mid 1941, at the peak of his triumph, Adolf Hitler was shocked by the heavy losses of the paratroopers' invasion of Crete and he decided that there will be no more large scale German airborne operations. In the rest of World War 2, other than a few insignificant small operations, the Fallschirmjager fought on the ground, as elite infantry. They proved themselves again and again as formidable opponents, especially in Monte Cassino (early 1944), in Normandy, and in Holland, where they defeated the British paratroopers in Arnhem. The lessons of large scale operation of paratroopers by the Germans were learned by The Allies, which later during the war made several such operations.

Keeping in mind that they are so few sets of german paratroopers, this set is welcome, and the adding of panzerfaust and panzerswreck is most welcome, details are not excellent like tssd but they are pretty good looking. They have an nco and officer, witch is nice.
